Douglas Vokac Obituary

Douglas Charles Vokac, known affectionately to friends and family as Doug, passed
away peacefully on April 23, 2024, at the age of 82, in his home state of Illinois. Born on July
2, 1941, in Berwyn, Illinois.Doug's exuberant spirit and loving nature touched the lives of all
who knew him.
Doug's journey began as a spirited child in Berwyn. His family moved to Fox River
Grove where he attended grade school and went to Crystal Lake High School. It was there
that Doug's athletic prowess shone through as he excelled in wrestling, football, and track.
His love for sports was only matched by his academic dedication, which led him to further
his studies in economics at Elgin Community College. Professionally, Doug's charisma and
drive propelled him to success as a leading sales representative at Addressograph Chicago.
His entrepreneurial spirit later inspired him to establish his own business, Image Systems, in
Crystal Lake, where he poured his heart into his work and became a respected figure in the
local business community.
Doug was a man whose personality was larger than life. He was an avid
outdoorsman who found joy in fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, skiing, and swimming. His
love for the great outdoors was infectious, and he often shared these passions with his
family and friends, creating lasting memories.
Above all, Doug was a family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lane Vokac,
and a close-knit family that includes his sister, Susan Johnson, brother-in-law Clark
Johnson, nephew Blaine Johnson, niece Jeffra Frank, nephew-in-law Chris Frank, and
great-nephews Colin and Gus Frank. He also leaves behind many cherished cousins: Tom,
Linda, Steve, Christina, Mark, Jeff, and Melinda. Together they celebrated life's milestones
and supported one another through life's challenges.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Doug would describe him as spirited, loving,
and friendly. His interest in others knew no boundaries. He was always there for his family
and friends, whether it was offering a helping hand or a shoulder to lean on. Doug's
presence was a source of comfort and joy to those around him.
Doug's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the pursuit of happiness. He lived his life
with an open heart and an adventurous spirit, embracing every moment with gusto. His
stories and the warmth of his personality will continue to inspire those who were fortunate
enough to be part of his life.
As we bid farewell to Doug Vokac, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey filled with
love, friendship, and adventure. Though he will be dearly missed, the memories he created
will forever be treasured in the hearts of his family and friends.
In accordance with his wishes, Doug's life will be commemorated in a private
gathering where stories will be shared, and his life celebrated by those who loved him most.
Doug's spirit will continue to guide us, and his legacy will endure through the lives he
touched. Rest in peace, dear Doug. Your light will never fade.
